Sutton Foster and Ted Griffin have decided to part ways, Page Six reported. The two had been married for a decade, and share a seven-year-old daughter, Emily, whom they welcomed through adoption in 2017.
The Younger actress opted for an uncontested divorce, which she filed in New York County Supreme Court on Tuesday.
According to the outlet, whispers have been brewing that a romance between the Once Upon a Mattress and former The Music Man co-star Hugh Jackman has been brewing.
The Tony-winning actress and the Ocean’s Eleven screenwriter got engaged in 2013, and got hitched in a private ceremony in October 2014, in Santa Barbara, California.
Sutton Foster says she knew Ted Griffin was the one when he bought her a pair of sweatpants
According to Us Weekly, Sutton Foster and Ted Griffin met on a blind date. As things took a positive turn from there, the two eventually went on to get married. The actress chose her wedding gown on-screen on an episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress. She told the outlet back in July 2019 about the first time she knew Griffin was the one:
"I knew I was going to marry my husband [Ted Griffin] when he bought me a pair of sweatpants. I still wear them and will probably keep wearing them until they turn to dust."
According to People magazine, the two dealt with fertility struggles for years. As such, they welcomed their daughter in the spring of 2016 following several rounds of IVF that proved futile. Sutton Foster shared her journey with the outlet in November 2021, saying,
"When I met my husband, it was the first time that I finally went, "Oh, I get it. I understand why people have families." But I was 39 when we got married, and I never even thought... I mean, I'd spent my entire life trying not to get pregnant. So the minute I tried to get pregnant, I was like, "Oh, it's going to be so easy." But it wasn't easy for us."
She continued, noting that "pursuing adoption" felt like the right step. According to Sutton Foster, their daughter was "the missing piece" in their family, and she couldn't "imagine life without her."
While speaking about the same in October 2020, she reflected on the rollercoaster that is being a parent:
"None of this can be controlled. You just have to lean into the uncertainty and also enjoy the moments. Some days you're gonna crush it, and some days you're gonna suck, and that's okay. All of it is okay."
She added,
"Especially being a parent. Some days, you're crushing it as a parent. You've got the craft project out ... we're baking together, we're biking, we're doing all the things. And then the next day, you're like, 'I don't got it.' I got to turn Daniel Tiger on, and I need help. I gotta tap out."
According to Page Six, a source claimed that Sutton Foster, 49, and Hugh Jackman, 56, are "100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together."
Furthermore, the two are going "out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge.”
Prior to her marriage with Griffin, Foster had been married to her college sweetheart, Christian Borle, from 2006 to 2009.
