John Mulaney and Olivia Munn have two children, Malcolm and Méi June. During a recent appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel on March 10, Kimmel questioned Mulaney if he and Munn named their daughter, Méi June "to be funny",
"Her name is Méi. And her middle name is June...Did you do that to be funny?"
To which Mulaney responded saying,
"No, I'm a professional comedian, so if I was going for funny, it might be a harder laugh than May next to June."
Mulaney mentioned the inspiration behind picking the name for her daughter, adding that she was named after Munn's mother.
"Olivia's mom's name is Jung, so we were doing an Americanized tribute to her by naming her June. Originally, our daughter was going to be named June."
However, the two realized that June Mulaney would sound like "John Mulaney" and they considered the name, "Méi" which means plum in Chinese.
More about John Mulaney and Olivia Munn's children
John Mulaney and Olivia Munn have been romantically linked since 2021. The two tied the knot on the Fourth of July weekend in 2024 in an intimate ceremony at a friend's house in New York. The couple are parents to two kids, son Malcolm, and daughter Méi June.
The couple welcomed their first child, Malcolm Hiep, in November, 2021, and announced the birth a month later by posting a picture of him sleeping on Instagram. Olivia captioned her post with,
"My Golden Ox baby. Malcolm Hiep Mulaney. He has his whole life ahead of him. He hasn't even tried seltzer yet. I'm very in love with him and his whole deal."
During a November 2024 interview with GQ, Munn mentioned that she "barely knew" Mulaney when she got pregnant with Malcolm.
The couple welcomed their second child, a daughter, Méi June via gestational surrogate in September, 2024. Olivia announced the birth in the same month on Instagram with a family photo from the hospital noting,
"Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon. I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel."
Munn, before the birth of her daughter, announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer in March, 2024.
