Wayne Osmond, a member of a famous ‘70s family music group The Osmonds, passed away on January 1, 2025, after suffering a stroke in Salt Lake City, Utah. In separate posts, Wayne’s daughter, Amy Cook, and his young brother, Donny Osmond, shared the news of Wayne's death.
Osmond is survived by his wife, children, and grandkids. For the uninitiated, Wayne Osmond’s wife, Kathlyn White Osmond, is reportedly a former Miss Davis County Fair and Miss Utah. The couple married in 1974 and parented five children throughout the 50 years of their marriage.
Amy, the eldest of her siblings, shared that Osmond, who she called a “beloved husband and father,” was in the presence of his wife and children at the time of his passing. She further wrote,
“His [Wayne Osmond’s legacy of faith, music, love, and laughter have influenced the lives of many people around the world. He would want everyone to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that families are forever, and that banana splits are the best dessert. We love him and will miss him dearly.”
Donny Osmond also posted his brother’s pictures, as he shared his thoughts on Instagram,
“Wayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone. I’m sure I speak on behalf of every one of us siblings when I state that we were fortunate to have Wayne as a brother.”
Amy Cook shared her father, Wayne Osmond's old video following his demise
After Amy revealed his father's death through social media, she also shared a months-old video of The Osmonds artist. In the supposed video call recording, the father-daughter duo is seen excitedly talking about the later musician's birthday wishes. Wayne is seen thanking his grandkids and "the gang" for the wishes as he showers love over his eldest daughter. Cook captioned the short clip by writing,
"This is the most special video that was taken in September, and I never posted it. Now I know why. Thank you to all of his beautiful friends who have supported him, Mom, and our whole family throughout the years."
Amy reshared the Hollywood Walk of Fame's tribute to Wayne Osmond in a separate post. The former teen idol and celebrated singer was honored with flowers at The Osmonds star.
Kathlyn White and Wayne Osmond’s Raised Five Children, including Amy Cook
As mentioned earlier, Kathlyn White and Wayne Osmond raised five children – Amy, Steven, Gregory, Sarah, and Michele. After getting married in December 1974, the couple welcomed their firstborn, Amy Cook (née Osmond), on November 26, 1976. She is married to Jeff Cook and has raised five children with him. In 1994, she was crowned with America's Junior Miss title.
Amy is seemingly quite active on social media and has posted her father’s pictures multiple times. In June 2024, she even posted a few photos of Wayne Osmond on Instagram, wishing him a “Happy Father’s Day.”
Amy’s siblings have maintained a low profile, and there isn’t much out there about them in the public domain. She is the eldest of the siblings, followed by Steven Osmond, Gregory Osmond, Sarah Hilton (née Osmond), and Michelle Erickson (née Osmond). Steven was born on September 6, 1978, while Gregory was born on January 19, 1981.
Wayne and Kathlyn’s younger daughters – Sarah and Michelle – were born on September 21, 1982 and August 30, 1986, respectively. Apart from fathering five kids, Wayne was reportedly a grandfather to 20 grandchildren.
For the unversed, the Utah musician was a part of his sibling’s quartet (Osmond Brothers) and later quintet (the Osmonds). The group began its journey in the 1960s and peaked in the early and mid-1970s. Starting as a barbershop quartet, the family music group shined as teen idols and a rock band. The siblings also sold as many as 77 million records globally.
They also had many reunions, with "The Last Chapter" performance of the original Osmond Brothers quartet coming in 2019 on CBS’s The Talk. It was their final performance, as Wayne Osmond passed away in January 2025. Following his death, Wayne was also remembered by his elder brother, Merrill Osmond, on Facebook, who called him “a saint” while honoring him.
Wayne’s nephew and Alan Osmond’s son, David, also shared pictures on social media to remember his uncle. He posted the photos from the last performance of The Osmonds while displaying his gratitude for sharing the stage with his “mentors and heroes.”
