Tyka Nelson, better known to the world as Prince's sister, passed away at 64. The Star Tribune confirmed her death, and according to the outlet, no cause of death has been reported. Since then, the spotlight has shifted to her personal life that she shares with her husband, Maurice Phillips, and the six children they parent.
Tyka was the daughter of John L. Nelson and Mattie Shaw Nelson, making her the late Prince's only full sister. A singer herself, she dropped four albums between 1988 and 2011, and in June, she was slated to deliver her retiring performance at the Dakota. However, the show was axed when she fell ill.
Tyka Nelson once joked that her family is the Black Brady Bunch
Tyka Nelson and her husband, Maurice Phillips, tied the knot in June 2010. While they kept their private lives under wraps, it is known that Maurice had three daughters from a previous marriage, while Tyka had two sons.
The names of their children are daughters Danielle Phillips, Crystal Phillips, Chelsea Phillips, and sons Rachard Phillips, Sir Montece Laeil, and President LenNard Laeil Nelson.
Tyka Nelson often took to social media to dote on Maurice's daughters, where she referred to them as her own many a time. In February 2016, she uploaded a post of the two celebrating five years of friendship on Facebook, and the caption read:

However, their son Richard Phillips passed away in September 2011 at the age of 39. His obituary, posted on Boyd and son Funeral Home, reads:
"A Riley High School graduate, Rachard's vibrant spirit illuminated the lives of all who knew him through his passions for sports, sneakers, and 'Big Body' cars. As the heartbeat of every gathering, his infectious laughter and jokes brought joy to friends and family."
Tyka Nelson is survived by her husband, Maurice Phillips, her sons President and Sir, stepdaughters Danielle Phillips, Crystal Phillips, and Chelsea Phillips, sisters Sharon and Norrine Nelson, and brother Omarr Baker.
