Neil Gaiman, the famous writer behind books such as Good Omens, The Sandman, and Coraline, is now the subject of an increasing number of sexual allegations. Among the accusers is Scarlett Pavlovich, who used to babysit for Gaiman and his ex-wife Amanda Palmer’s son.

Gaiman has four children from two marriages. He married Mary McGrath in 1985, and the couple had three children: a son and two daughters. They lived near Menomonie, Wisconsin, since 1992 to be close to McGrath’s family before they eventually got divorced.
Though not much is known about Gaiman’s children, he has written a lot about them in his blog online. In the blogs, he shares his memories of spending time with his children, Holly Gaiman, Maddy Gaiman, and Michael Gaiman.
Holly Gaiman, who is the first child of Neil Gaiman and Mary McGrath, had briefly made her way into the acting industry. She played a role in the movie Neverwhere, released in 1996.
Neil Gaiman later married musician and performer Amanda Palmer in 2011. The two first announced a relationship in 2009 and subsequently became engaged in 2010. The couple had a son named Anthony Ash Palmer Gaiman in September 2015.
Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer's son, has been at the center of some of the ongoing allegations, as per the reports published by the Vulture.
Pavlovich is identified in the report as a person Palmer asked to babysit their son at Gaiman's home in Waiheke Island, New Zealand. Pavlovich said her relationship with Palmer started as a friendship when she was 22, which later led to her role as a caregiver for their child.
Pavlovich claimed that Gaiman had repeatedly sexually assaulted her while she worked as a babysitter. She stated that one day, Gaiman had supposedly entered the bathroom uninvited and began nonconsensual sexual acts. Pavlovich also claimed that the abuse went on to transpire every time she babysat.
More about the allegations against Neil Gaiman as other accusers come forward
In a statement, Scarlett Pavlovich said that the abuse persisted throughout her employment with the family. She said Gaiman once used butter as a lubricant while they engaged in sex, an experience that traumatized her greatly.
She also said that Neil Gaiman’s son started calling her a “slave” and commanded her to call him “master,” similar to the language she claimed was used by Gaiman himself. Pavlovich’s police report was eventually submitted in January 2023, but the case was subsequently dropped without cooperation from Gaiman and Palmer.
The Vulture report also features similar allegations from seven other women who documented the continuation of such experiences. These testimonies illustrate a man who abused the formal and informal power balance and manipulated boundaries through the pretense of consensual BDSM activities.
Katherine Kendall, one of the accusers, stated that Neil Gaiman tried to pressure her to have sex on his tour bus and later gave her $60,000, which she used to pay for therapy.
Gaiman has denied all allegations against him since they first emerged in July 2023. His representatives say that anything he did was consensual. But that claim is challenged by the report from Vulture.
