Ne-Yo, a Grammy winning singer, songwriter and record producer with hits like “So Sick” and “Miss Independent,” has recently been in the news not just for his music, but also for his polyamorous lifestyle.
The singer, 45, who was born, Shaffer Chimere Smith, was seen kissing all three of his polyamorous partners. The incident has elicited a wave of responses on social media. Ne-Yo is now a dad for seven children from three different partnerships.
Ne-Yo shares his first two children, Madilyn Grace Shaw-Smith (born November 2010) and Mason Evan Shaw-Smith (born October 2011), with a ex-fiancée, Monyetta Shaw-Carter. According to People, he dedicated his 2012 hit "Alone With You (Maddie’s Song)" to his daughter.
He later married Crystal Renay in 2016 after ending things with Monyetta. The couple had three kids, Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr., born March 2016, Roman Alexander-Raj Smith, born June 2018 and Isabella Rose Smith, born June 2021.
Crystal and the singer finalized their divorce in January 2023, following allegations of the singer's infidelity. Ne-Yo’s youngest children, Braiden and Brixton Smith, were born in 2021 and 2023 respectively, to the influencer Sade Jenea Bagnerise.

The singer confirmed his polyamorous lifestyle last year in an appearance on the Lemon Drop with Karleen Roy. His 2022 divorce from Crystal Renay led to his acceptance of his true self:

One of the recent photos, which went viral, show him and his three partners on a yacht, identified on Instagram as @Daddys_Pretty_Baby__, @Phoneixx__feather, and @ArielleHill (Vibe). The images were captioned “US vs. …NOBODY. You can’t compete where you can’t compare. #PolyAndFly.”
In April 2024, Sade Bagnerise, the mother of two of Ne-Yo’s children, accused the R&B singer of physically assaulting her and of neglecting their two sons, Braiden and Brixton.
According to Vibe, She claimed that he body slammed her and had abused her several times which also included hosting women, alcohol and drugs in their home where their children reside.

Calling him “Diddy Jr.,” she described his lifestyle as “disgusting” and asked why he couldn’t put his children first. As a response he shrugged off the accusations and threatened to call the police on Bagnerise for disturbing the peace.
However this isn’t the first time, that Bagnerise has called out Ne-Yo’s behavior. She had also previously alleged in 2023 that he battled a sex addiction.
