Recently, Anthony Mackie, 46, expressed his thoughts and ideas about raising his children and how he wishes they would stay away from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood on The Pivot podcast.
The Captain America: Brave New World star spoke about his boys on his latest appearance on the podcast and revealed how he considers parenting the most pivotal commitment.
Anthony Mackie and his ex-wife, Sheletta Chapital, welcomed four sons into the world. While recounting his priorities and fatherhood, he said,
“So, it is just that thing of in the past 20 years, we’ve been living through the death of the American male. They have literally killed masculinity in our homes, in our communities for one reason or another. But I raise my boys to be young men."
Everything we know about Anthony Mackie's young boys
According to a People report, the actor loves staying at his home in New Orleans and creating precious memories with his kids. In a conversation with the outlet, the father of four revealed,
"My first job, my most important job, is just being a good dad. Being the dad that my dad was for me. My work part of it doesn’t really matter."
Anthony prefers to keep his personal life private, and not much is known about his four boys. He never disclosed their names or other updates about his little ones.
While chatting with Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor on the podcast, Anthony emphasized keeping his sons humble.
"I keep my boys humble. Like my boys have never had a pair of Jordans. My boys don’t do all that internet fly s***. I could be the biggest star in the world. Do not let me catch you being stupid."
While sharing little information about his eldest son, he spoke:
"My oldest gets it — my 15-year-old. He tell the other ones, he’s like, 'Yo, don’t make Dad mad.' Once you get one that’s right, he’s going to straighten the other ones out."
He believes it is crucial to raise his sons "to be young men." From teaching them to open doors for every woman to wishing thank you to people, he has been teaching modesty and good manners since they were just 2 years of age.

The actor's kids shaped his life decisions and his approach towards his profession, too. In 2024, he had a conversation at the Hollywood Reporter roundtable, where he recalled how his four sons changed his perspective.
"My kids changed a lot for me. Now, as they get older and I’m working so much, it’s a dangerous negotiation. I want to give my kids the opportunity of leaving home with the advantage that all my classmates had when I got to school."
He does not want his boys to struggle. Instead, he desires to let them understand "what the regular American man experiences trying to put a meal on the table, but I don’t want them to have the struggle."
