In a conversation with People magazine, the Oscar-winning actress revealed the struggles she had to endure to experience motherhood. While discussing her challenges, she shared her conversation with Fleur Fortune, the 2024 movie's director, about her "struggle to get pregnant."

"That lasted for quite a long time before I had my first son."

Alicia Vikander recalled her pregnancy journey

The desire to have babies transformed into "almost like an obsession by the end" for the Tomb Raider actress. Recounting those "hard times" and the emotional rollercoaster she went through, she talked about putting pressure on herself and having "the kind of dedication" to give birth to her babies.

Recalling those hardships, she further continued,

"It was almost like an obsession by the end, which I think, after speaking to a lot of other people, is something that we all share."

Finding a connection between her journey and that of others, as well as how the concept of pregnancy has been portrayed in the movie, Alicia Vikander added,

"So I think even though, of course, this film and story is taking itself to a far extent when it comes to its imagination, it's still at its core, feelings that I think a lot of people can relate to."

Alicia Vikander spoke to The Sunday Times in 2022 and opened up about having an "extreme and painful" miscarriage. She expressed,

"We have a child now, but it took us time."

In a conversation with The Times, Alicia Vikander elaborated on her journey to becoming a mother after suffering physical pain and challenges. "Sometimes you go through things that are tough in life and if you have an office job you can step away for a bit. But there are times that myself or colleagues have been through something and, well, I can't understand how they went on to the red carpet afterwards."
