Skims founder Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were married for six years until their divorce in 2021. The two share two daughters, North, 11, and Chicago, 6, and 2 sons, Saint, 9, and Psalm, 5.
Kim Kardashian opened up about her divorce from Kanye West in the February 13 episode of The Kardashians. Her sister, Khloe, gave a debrief on her emotional reunion with her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, whom she hadn't seen in nine years. Kim said that she could relate to Khloe when Khloe said,
"That was the love of my life. And if it wasn't for drugs, I know we would still be married 'til today. I know I picked the right person at the time. None of us knew he was on drugs until it was at least a year in. That's what was so terrifying."
Kim responded by saying,
"That's the hardest part. I've been there. When you don't forsee something happening that really changes a person's personality and then they're not the same person and you can't ever get that person back, but you can't live with the new person. I get it."
Kim also said that she didn't want her marriage to end for personal reasons, but "circumstances change." While Kim is rumored to be dating Odell Beckham Jr., Kanye is married to Bianca Censori.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's divorce timeline explored
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West filed for divorce in 2021 after getting married in 2014. The two began dating in 2012 amidst Kim's legal fight to end her marriage to Kris Humphries. As per reports, Kanye's change in behavior in 2016 and his vocal support for Donald Trump, along with other controversial comments, led to the divorce.
In a court filing obtained by People Magazine at the time of their divorce, Kim Kardashian requested to be declared legally single ahead of the divorce being finalized. She opened up about West's bipolar diagnosis in 2020 and asked the public for compassion and empathy as they worked on their family.
West's meeting with Donald Trump in 2016 also put a strain on their marriage. In 2021, West went on a Twitter spree where he claimed that Kim's mother, Kris, had tried to "lock him up" and that he was considering divorcing Kim. At the time, Kim posted a lengthy note on her Instagram story noting Kanye's bipolar disorder,
"As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health."
In February 2021, Kim filed for divorce from West. In December, Kardashian requested to be declared legally single from West. In November 2022, the two finalized their divorce, and West went on to marry Bianca Censori in December 2022.
