Kieran Culkin delivered a wholesome Oscar speech, giving a shout-out to his wife, Jazz Charton, and vowing to have more kids with her.

The Real Pain actor met her Londoner spouse more than a decade back at a bar in New York City. Culkin recalled his first meeting with Jazz Charton in 2012, during a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter,

“I said, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’ She said, ‘Jazz.’ I said, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ And she said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s f***ing stupid.’

Following their first encounter at a NYC bar, their romance brewed, and the couple tied the knot in 2013. The couple were on a three-and-a-half-month road trip in Iowa when they decided to marry. Jazz Charton posted about their private wedding in a post in 2020. She wrote,

“7 years ago we went on what was supposed to be a 6 week road trip but ended up taking 3 1/2 months. 7 years ago we fell in love with Iowa. 7 years ago we met a girl named Kinsey who helped us get our marriage license and 7 years ago today we said I do in the rain with 3 strangers.”

The couple welcomed their first kid in 2019, while their second child was born in 2021.

The Succession star won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, a BAFTA, and an Oscar for his performance in Real Pain. After accepting his first-ever Academy Award on-stage from Robert Downey Jr., Culkin acknowledged his Succession co-star’s performance in The Apprentice and moved on to thank his manager, Jesse Eisenberg, the companies behind Real Pain, and his mother.

Culkin also thanked his wife, Jazz Charton, and claimed she owed her a third kid for his Emmy win. The Scott Pilgrim vs. the World actor then jokingly reminded his spouse about how she promised him their fourth child for an Oscar. Kieran Culkin said,

“I wanna really, I love you, Jazz. This is, I have to thank my wife Jazz, for absolutely everything, for giving my favorite people in the world.”

He recounted how he publicly mentioned being promised a third child for winning an Emmy Award in 2023. Culkin continued,

“About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly, publicly said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, I would, she would give me the kid. It turns out she said that because she didn't think I was gonna win…”

Recalling their conversation after winning an Emmy, Culkin narrated,

“Emily, you were there, so you're a witness, and she goes, 'Oh God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid,' and I turned to her and I said, 'Really I want four.' And she turned to me, I swear to God this happened, it was just over a year ago, she said, 'I will give you four when you win an Oscar.'”

The Home Alone actor cheekily reminded Jazz Charton about her promise and concluded his Oscar speech,

“You remember that, honey? You do? Then I just have this to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith. No pressure. I love you. I'm really sorry I did this again. And let's get cracking on those kids. What do you say? I love you!”

At the 97th Academy Awards, it was Kieran Culkin’s first Oscar win on his first nomination. He was among the contenders for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, including Yura Borisov, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, and Jeremy Strong.
