Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are a couple that is admired by all!

The A-list Hollywood couple have been happily married for more than 35 years now. While Bacon and Sedgwick formally met on the sets of PBS' Lemon Sky, a 1988 movie, Bacon appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday, April 7, and revealed that their first meeting goes back to the time when Bacon was 19 years old and Kyra was 12:

"I will tell you that I was doing a lot of Off-Broadway, many years before that. I was 19 so she was 12, I think. Her mom had seen me in some plays Off-Broadway, and she knew that little 12-year-old Kyra wanted to be an actor."

Sedgwick's mother went to purchase tickets for Bacon's show while the little girl ran into him during a lunch break.

The actor went on to say that Sedgwick approached him while he was buying himself a sandwich and said that she liked his play. However, Bacon also said that his reply might have come off as misogynistic:

"I was buying a sandwich in the deli around the corner. This 12-year-old girl came up and said, 'Hi, I liked you in the play.' And, according to her, I said, 'Thanks, sweetie.' You know, kind of misogynistic."

Bacon concluded by saying that it wasn't love at first sight for the couple and mentions that he didn't remember their first meeting:

"She tells this story that when we first met doing Lemon Sky, she said, 'You know we met in the village after that play that time. Do you remember that?' And I went, 'Yeah I do remember that.' And she went, 'Really?' And I went, 'No.' So she did not like me. It was not love at first sight."

Timeline of Bacon's and Sedgwick's relationship

After meeting for the first time during lunch during Bacon's off-Broadway play, Getting Out, Bacon and Sedgwick formally met on the sets of the 1988 film, Lemon Sky.

Sedgwick said on Conan that that Bacon had decided to offer dinner to the entire cast as a chance to interact with her but she didn't come along. He later suggested her to get a massage in the hotel. Sedgwick took a massage and after his workout at the hotel gym, which was near the massage parlor, Bacon asked her for dinner. That is how the connection started.

On December 24, 1987, the two got engaged. On The Kelly Clarkson Show Bacon revealed that he got on one knee and asked Sedgwick to marry him on Christmas Eve.

Bacon and Sedgwick got married on September 4, 1988. While Sedgwick adorned herself in a high-lace gown, Bacon wore a checkered suit on his wedding.

On June 23, 1989, the couple welcomed their first child, Travis, in Los Angeles. In 2010, Sedgwick told More Magazine that their decision to start a family was an impulsive one.

In December 1991, the pair co-starred in Pyrates, a romantic comedy. In March 1992, the couple welcomed their second child, Sosie Ruth. Bacon and Sedgwick have also co-starred in Murder in the First, Cavedweller, and Lover Boy.

Sedgwick starred in the show The Closer for seven seasons and Bacon directed four episodes of the same.
