John Leguizamo has been part of Hollywood for more than two decades with a career that spans multiple genres and some iconic roles. His films, such as Encanto (2021) and Violent Night (2022), have been critical hits.
The actor has been married to Justine Maurer for over 2 decades now and has made multiple public appearances together. Earlier this week, Leguizamo shared a comical story about his wife’s new obsession with social media, specifically Facebook.
John Leguizamo and Justine Maurer met in 1993 on the set of Carlito’s Way. Maurer was working in the film’s costume department at the time, and according to Distractify, she had asked if she could be there for the fitting with Leguizamo.
While there was an immediate spark, their romance didn’t ignite right away, since the actor was dating the actress Yelba Osorio, who would go on to marry him in 1994. Their marriage was brief, as it ended in divorce in 1996.
Despite meeting each other, Leguizamo and Maurer were friends for many years before eventually pursuing a relationship. Looking back on the moment he first laid eyes on her, Leguizamo said he felt an immediate attraction.

Their relationship flourished after they reunited in 1996; the two later moved in together. The couple married in a ceremony that incorporated their diverse backgrounds of Catholic and Jewish heritage in 2003.

John Leguizamo and Maurer became parents even before they exchanged vows. Daughter Allegra Sky was born in 1999 and son Lucas in 2000. Now grown, both children have forged their own paths, including Allegra embarking on her father’s career in the entertainment business.
She has also worked as an actor and director; her credits include Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) and Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012). On the other hand, Lucas has pursued a career in finance.
Though John Leguizamo has been a public figure for decades, Justine Maurer has generally avoided the spotlight. But the actor recently revealed that Maurer discovered Facebook, which added a bit of unexpected excitement into their household. He said:
