Elizabeth Gutiérrez’s longtime partner, William Levy, was recently arrested in Florida on charges of trespassing and public intoxication. The 44-year-old telenovela star, known for his memorable stint on Dancing with the Stars, was arrested in Weston and booked into Broward County’s Main Jail.
He was held in jail until a judge set his bond at $250 per day. News of his arrest has since reopened public interest in William Levy's two-decade-long relationship with Elizabeth Gutiérrez, whom he accused of murder.
Levy and Gutiérrez met in 2003 while they were filming the reality show Protagonistas de Novela 2, a competition series for aspiring actors. Their on-screen chemistry soon turned into a real-life romance, and the couple got married the same year.
The couple had two children together, a son, Christopher Alexander, born in 2006, and a daughter, Kailey Alexandra, born in 2010.
Elizabeth Gutiérrez confirmed their separation
Despite their seemingly happy family life, the couple faced years of public scrutiny every few years, making headlines for both personal milestones and the reported drama behind closed doors. Elizabeth Gutiérrez confirmed their separation in an emotional interview with HOLA! in 2024 after nearly two decades together. She said in the interview.
"Currently, we are not together. On my part, it was never for lack of love. I think I'm not the same girl I was 20 years ago when he met me. What we want at this moment is different."
Their split followed a domestic disturbance report at their Florida home. Their daughter Kailey told police that Levy pushed her when he tried to enter a room. Levy denied the allegation, and there were no obvious signs of injury. Despite this incident, Gutiérrez insisted in her interviews that the split was not driven by such acts or fights.
However, there have been a number of domestic conflicts since October 2023, during which Gutiérrez reportedly voiced concerns about Levy's drinking patterns.
More about William Levy's response to allegations
After the story went viral, Levy spoke out in an interview on El Gordo y La Flaca, denying the abuse allegations and suggesting he may pursue legal action against those accusing him of abuse, which he said were defamatory statements. He mentioned,
"Many lies have been told about me, and serious accusations have been made. I can tolerate a lot, but when it comes to defamation, that's something I cannot let slide. Eventually, those responsible will have to pay for it."
Levy also talked about the emotional toll of such a situation on the children. Though the relationship had ended, he said that he was focused on being an involved father, he said,
"We are all suffering, but the ones who suffer the most are my children. I've tried to stay silent for their sake, but there comes a point where I can no longer allow this defamation to continue."
In the meantime, Elizabeth Gutiérrez is prioritizing her well-being and that of her children. Despite her heartbreak, she has said her children are “at peace” and that both parents are devoted to their welfare.
