How did Alexa PenaVega meet her husband Carlos? All about the relationship as Spy Kids star mourns loss of couple’s fourth child

Spy Kids fame Alexa PenaVega took to Instagram on April 13 to pay tribute to their daughter, Indy, one year after she was "born at rest." The actress shared a photo of her cradling her baby in her arms at the hospital with a caption that details the feeling of pain and loss she experienced as well as her faith.

"This was the most painful moment I have ever experienced (...) And While we still mourn and wish we had her in our arms… we know she is waiting for us in a place that is beyond anything we can imagine. Jeremiah 29:11"

They shared the unfortunate news that their daughter, Indy, was stillborn via Instagram on April 15 last year. Alexa PenaVega and her husband, Carlos, have three other children: Rio (three), Kingston (five), and Ocean (eight). Alexa and Carlos were introduced to each other by their mutual friends at a Bible Study.

On Sunday, the couple also shared a joint Instagram post that featured the three kids holding up a photo of their late sister.

Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega's relationship explored

Alexa, 36, who is popularly known for her role in the Spy Kids Franchise, and Big Time Rush Member Carlos PenaVega, 35, were introduced to each other in 2012 at a bible study meeting by their mutual friend. According to People Magazine, the two preferred to slowly transition into a relationship rather than "jumping" into one and hence focused on their friendship first.

According to US Weekly, in September 2013, Carlos proposed to Alexa, and the couple got married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in January 2014. It is further reported that the two combined their last names to form PenaVega, with Pena derived from Carlos Roberto Pena Jr. and Vega from Alexa Ellesse Vega.

In 2015, the newly married couple competed against each other in Season 21 of Dancing With the Stars. Alexa was paired with Mark Ballas and Carlos with Witney Carson.

In December 2016, the couple welcomed their first child, Ocean King. Three years later, their family grew from three to four as the couple welcomed their second son, Kingston James in July 2019. In 2021, their family grew even bigger as Alexa PenaVega and Carlos welcomed their third child and first daughter, Rio, in May.

In 2018, the couple appeared as leads in Hallmark's Love at Sea, which also had their son Ocean. The couple has also starred together in a bunch of other movies like Never Too Late to Celebrate, Mr. Manhattan, and more.

According to reports, in 2022, the duo released their faith-based book titled What If Love Is the Point? Alexa shared with The War Cry in 2022 that,

In November 2023, the couple announced their fourth pregnancy, but unfortunately, the duo later shared that their daughter, named Indy Rex, was stillborn. The couple shared the news via Instagram in April 2024.
