Kanye West frequently uses his X account to share his views, which have sparked controversy and debate. The latest subject of Ye’s “Twitter fingers” is fellow rapper Playboi Carti.

Carti, who recently released his long-anticipated album I AM MUSIC, became the subject of West’s criticism after making a public plea via Instagram Stories to feature his daughter, North, on an upcoming track. This came despite West not being included on Carti’s latest record, reportedly due to label-related issues.

Kanye vs Carti Explained

Kanye publicly responded to Carti for seeking out his daughter for a collab. His tweet reads:

“HEY NORTH YOUR DAD GAVE ME MY BIGGEST SONG AND CO SIGN AND I LEFT HIM OFF OF MY ALBUM BECAUSE OF HIS TWEETS OH BUT NORTH YOU MY NIECE I GOTTA USE YOUR VOCALS”

Kanye addressed the fact that many of his industry peers, including Carti, have distanced themselves from him but have still mentioned his name and family. Prior to this, he tweeted the following just hours earlier:

“I DECIDED NORTH WONT BE DOING ANY SONGS WITH CARTI HOW IT LOOK FOR ME TO GET LEFT OFF THE ALBUM AND THEN HE ASK KIM TO HAVE VOCALS FROM MY DAUGHTER I DONT A FUCK ABOUT NONE OF THIS INDUSTRY SHIT AND HOW ITS A SKIMS LINE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND I DONT GIVE A FUCK WHAT NO COMMENTS THE MAN HAS THE FIRST AND FINAL SAY OVER HIS KIDS”

The two rappers have a history of collaborations, with the most recent being “Carnival” off West and Ty Dolla’s Vultures 2. West also acknowledged recently on X that the pair were working on a joint album titled Carti Ye before those plans were eventually scrapped.

"WE WERE WORKING ON PROJECT CALLED CARTI YE IM SORRY THAT THIS WONT HAPPEN NOW. From Carti’s actual twin. This was the album cover. I teased it the other day.”

He also made it clear that the project’s inability to come to fruition wasn’t on Playboi Carti.

"Carti ain’t do nothing wrong This how the Jewish industry mob practice coercion to get all my family to not work with me. They made Ty write the words HATE SPEECH. And it’s the same thing they did with Trav."

It's uncertain how this situation will unfold or who Kanye might address next. After his tweets about Carti, he also made remarks about Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, The Creator, as tensions between him and other industry figures continue to rise.
