Heart Eyes star Olivia Holt recalls shooting days; shares experience
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Olivia Holt shares an experience when she and Mason Gooding were brought on board for Heart Eyes and they had not had a chemistry read. According to Backstage, a chemistry read happens when the actors, mostly those who are cast in the lead roles, come together and read their parts today. That enables the actors to get better acquainted with one another and their working relationship.
In the interview, Olivia Holt recalls the moment from the initial shooting days of Heart Eyes, when, during a chase sequence of the 'Heart Eyes' Killer towards Ally and Jay, in order to tackle the killer, it leads to Ally indecisively flinging an 'intimate bedside object' at the killer. That awkward yet comical moment turned out to be a catalyst for both the actors in order to connect more and build a good chemistry.
Olivia Holt reveals more heartfelt and hilarious instances between the lead actors, when Mason Gooding, in an attempt to connect with her, actually appeared at work wearing a tank top that read "Olivia Holt's #1 fan."
Holt also recalls a moment when Mason Gooding took one of her clothes to wear for a Letterboxd promotional shoot for Heart Eyes. It was a pair of oversized shorts that was required in filming one of the stunt scenes.
Olivia Holt further mentioned in the interview about the environment of the set, which she termed as "very lax," and also about the challenges that they had experienced during filming in terms of the weather in New Zealand, as she explains:
It was very lax. We enjoyed it despite some really hard and challenging days in the middle of winter. It was freezing in New Zealand, and we did mostly night shoots, so it was hard. We also had a lot of background actors. But we had very short days, and we made the most of it. We had such a great time, and our full blooper reel would’ve been way too long to share with the world. They definitely condensed a lot of it, but we had the most fun.
