The recent accusations against Shawn Corey Carter, aka Jay-Z, have created vibrations not only on social media platforms but also in the rapper’s life. Although he has released several statements to media outlets and through his Roc Nation Company’s X page, his lawyer, Alex Spiro, has spoken up about the matter.

In a press conference at Roc Nation’s headquarters on December 16, 2024, Spiro addressed the allegations against the rapper and whatever followed in detail. He stated that Carter was determined to fight the claims legally and provided an overview of the veracity of the accusations.

During the press conference's Q&A session, Alex Spiro was asked to confirm Jay-Z's whereabouts on that particular day in 2000 when the incident allegedly happened. He clarified he was not allowed to discuss everything as that information fell under ‘privileged communication’ but stated that the rapper was not in any house or location, thereby nullifying the claims by the victim.

When another person from the audience asked how Jay-Z was feeling about the incident, the attorney mentioned that Carter was upset as he found it difficult to fathom that someone would bring up these allegations against him. Alex Spiro said:

“He is upset that somebody would be allowed to do this. It would make a mockery of the system like this. He is upset that this distracts and dissuades real victims from coming forward. He is upset that his kids and his family have to deal with this. He is upset and he should be upset.”

Alex Spiro said Jay-Z had a ‘professional’ relationship with Diddy

The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, initially filed the lawsuit against Sean Diddy Combs in October 2024. However, it was refiled on December 8, 2024, after adding Jay-Z as another accused.

This has led to a lot of speculation about the two defendants’ relationship. During the press conference, a person in the audience asked why Jay-Z did not mention Diddy in any of his statements, and Alex Spiro replied:

“Mr. Carter has nothing to do about Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs. They knew each other professionally for a number of years just like in all professions. People knew each other at music awards, they support each other. If you go to the NBA All-Star game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work.”

Spiro continued:

“There is no closer association between any of them. That’s also a matter of fiction. That’s all that there is. He doesn’t know anything about the charges or allegations against him. He has nothing to do with case and there is nothing more to say.”

The press conference was held days after Jane Doe shared with NBC News that there might be certain inaccuracies in her allegations. Nonetheless, she claimed none of whatever she stated was false. Jay-Z stated that the incident never occurred, despite being filed in court and discussed in the media. He emphasized that true justice was inevitable and suggested the outcome was already decided.

Alex Spiro had previously criticized the lawsuit alleging that Jane Doe’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, spread misinformation. He looked forward to a quick dismissal of the case while he mentioned seeking disciplinary action against Buzbee.
