Dave Chappelle has a knack for bringing laughter out of his audience despite joking about some of the most controversial or awkward topics. The creator of Chappelle’s Show often inculcates social commentary and satire through comedy bits and sets.

In his recent monologue on the "January 18" episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL), Chappelle delivered jokes on the LA wildfires. Through his jokes, the SNL host gave his two cents on the “arsonist” conspiracy theory that has been making rounds on social media for a while now. Dave Chappelle said,

“And now we watch the news or talk to my friends. They all have these conspiracy theories, ‘What started these fires?’ Now they say it’s arsonists. I’ve heard this theory, and I’m sure there were some arsonists, but there were a lot of elements that came together to make this fire the catastrophe that it was.The winds were 100 miles an hour. LA was dry as a bone in the levees. And there were just too many factors. ”

After setting up for a punchline, Chappelle concluded,

“If you are a rational, thinking person, you have to at least consider the possibility that God hates these people. S**omites. And that's not true because West Hollywood was unscathed. Because how can you burn what is already flaming?”

For his impeccable delivery, The Dreamer performer got a mighty applause from the crowd. At the same time, the clip of the monologue went viral, and many netizens chimed in with their responses. A user even jokingly agreed to Chappelle’s conclusion and wrote,

“He's probably not wrong 🤣🤣.”
