Trump replied to Biden appreciating the smooth transition

The President-elect expressed gratitude for a smooth transition, acknowledging the challenges of politics but describing the day as positive. He was joined by White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and incoming Chief of Staff Susie Wiles during the meeting. As per The New York Post, he said,

“You know, it’s been a long, it’s been a long slog. It’s been a lot of work on both sides and he did a very good job with respect to campaigning and everything else. We really had a really good meeting.”

Jean-Pierre stated that the two leaders covered significant national security and domestic policy issues affecting the nation and the global community. President Biden also highlighted key items for Congress to address during the lame-duck session, including government funding and the additional disaster relief funding he had requested.

Melania Trump's office stated she would not attend the White House meeting but encouraged her husband’s return to the Oval Office and wished him success. Upon arrival, the President-elect received a standing ovation from House Republicans, acknowledging the mutual support in their political journeys.

As reporters were ushered out, he commented on his future in politics, hinting he wouldn’t run again unless Republicans felt he had been exceptional. He has announced several Cabinet appointments since the election but has kept a low profile publicly, last appearing at his election headquarters in West Palm Beach as his victory became clear.
