NLE Choppa during an appearance at the 2025 Truth Awards on March 15, revealed that he performed at the event to celebrate the Black LGBTQ+ community. While walking on the red carpet, NLE Choppa spoke to The Neighborhood Talk saying,
"To show love, man. Why can't I be here. Just because its an event for the LGBTQ community doesn't mean a straight male can't come and show love. I just want to show love. Anyway shape, form I can. I feel like that thing with me."
After Choppa's words went viral on the internet, netizens took to The Neighborhood Talk's comment section, to express their support for the artist.
@sippingwithtt on Instagram commented,
"He's comfortable in his skin."

The show's organizers Better Brothers Los Angeles and The DIVA Foundation had announced his attendance at the award ceremony. Other artists present at the event include: Sheryl Lee Ralph, Coleman Domingo, Ava DuVernay, and Tamar Braxton.
What has NLE Choppa said about his sexuality?
NLE Choppa has been publically supporting the LGBTQ+ community for a while now. However, the rapper has also mentioned that he "never said I was gay."
When a social media user replied to Choppa's September 2024, X post with a clip of Tim (Brandon Black) coming out as gay in Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming, Choppa responded by saying,
"Never said I was gay."
The response came after Choppa in a cryptic X post, shared a mirror selfie flaunting his outfit of the day with the caption, "I'm coming out."
The rapper has also acknowledged the support of the LGBTQ+ community while speaking to Paper Magazine where he said,
"It's a beautiful thing because the amount of people who (have) had something to say is what fuels me to stay deeply rooted in my purpose. The beauty of it is that it gave me an opportunity to say, "Oh, y'all feel like I'm this way? Okay, let me give yall more reasons to feel that way, even though I know I'm not."
He also added that "everyone is fighting for some type of acceptance", and added that "the most important part is accepting yourself first."
He also thanked the community in 2024 for their support of his Sl** Me Out 2" and noted that music does not discriminate.
