In a new episode of Hot 97, Ebro Darden called into question why Drake opted to sit down for a live stream with Kick streamer xQc instead of popular media personality DJ Akademiks.
He also questioned Drake's latest accusations against his label company, UMG, where he alleged that they devised a scheme to help inflate the success of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us.
In a video circulating on X, he said:
"Specifically Akademiks, whom I think it's documented that he gets paid by the labels. And he was promoting hard for you, Drake, during the battle. Was that not part of the universal promo plan?"
Ebro Darden accuses Drake of resorting to the same tactics he claims Lamar used on Not Like Us
In the video, Ebro can be heard saying:
"Even before this lawsuit, he went on the streamer xQc, and outta his mouth comes 'I'm here, I'm still in one piece. Only facts can kill me, fairytale...' like what are you talking about bro? And then after the stream with xQc, we hear about the lawsuit. Mind you, why aren't you going on streams with Akademiks, who is like your promo partner?"
Drake has accused his and Kendrick Lamar's home label, Univeral Music Group, of inflating the latter's diss track, Not Like Us. He claimed they engaged in fraudulent behavior to promote the same, noting that they used bots, influencers, and payola to boost streams and popularity.
Elsewhere in the video, he discusses Drake's latest claims against UMG, noting that his claims don't make sense because the company wouldn't do that to such a big asset. However, if they did, Ebro claimed, he likely knew about it because they have likely done it to him in the past.
"Say Drake, you know what this label is capable of, and likely they used these tactics on your behalf."
Someone else on the podcast concurred, noting there was no way he would "jump to that" unless he knew "the inside game of how the label moves."

During his livestream with xQc earlier this week, the Passionfruit rapper made some bold statements about just how hard it would be to take him down. He proclaimed:
"I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairytales won’t do it.”
While he didn't mention his adversary's name, fans were quick to tie the comments to Lamar.
As for the latter, he surprise-dropped his new album, GNX last week, and fans are going ballistic. The music video for his standout track, Squabble Up, is a continuation of Not Like Us, and according to Billboard, the track is expected to clock in on the Hot 100 charts this week.
