Val Kilmer has a personality to be remembered! And that is not what his fans think but also what the director of McGruber thinks.

As per an article by Entertainment Weekly, the director of McGruber, Jorma Taccone, recalls his first meeting with Kilmer to discuss the role of Dieter Von Cunth.

In a recent episode of The Lonely Island and the Seth Meyers Podcast, director Toccone said that he drove to Malibu to meet Kilmer, and he was throwing chips into the ocean as he asked Toccone, "Are You a King?" This left Toconna a little perplexed, only for him to realize that he was just messing with him.

"He was just messing with me, I think!" Toccone wondered after his meeting with Kilmer.

Giving details about the meeting, he said--

"I drove out to Malibu to meet him, and his door was open. I go in the house, and he's on the balcony...throwing these little chips or something into the ocean, and he's going, 'Are you a king? Are you a king?'"

Toccone further told Entertainment Weekly that his welcome at Kilmer's house left him confused and startled.

"I was like, 'What? What?'" the filmmaker recalled. "And he comes back into the room. He's turned away from me. And he comes back into the room, and he starts tossing these little paper chips at me...and I'm like, 'What are these?'" Toccone told the host of the podcast.

A while later, Toccone started to realize why Kilmer was behaving like this. The director realized that Kilmer was getting ready for Mardi Gras.

"And I started looking at them, and it takes me, like, a couple minutes to figure out that he was invited to Mardi Gras that year to play King Bacchus," exclaimed Toccone"."The guy who, like, leads the float. And these are little paper chips that he's supposed to be throwing out to the crowd with his face on it. And he was saying that he was a king."

Toconne recalled the incident in the recent episode of the podcast and described it as a "wonderful" meeting that he will always remember. Toccone immediately felt connected with Kilmer.
