The long-standing conflict between Joe Budden and Peter Rosenberg reappeared after the Hot 97 radio presenter said that Budden never gave him credit for his work on The Joe Budden Podcast. Fans stepped out to support the former rapper-turned-podcaster when Rosenberg took to social media to vent his irritation over Budden's alleged lack of appreciation.
Rosenberg went back to a previous article commemorating the ninth anniversary of The Joe Budden Podcast on February 28. He poked fun at Budden for not acknowledging the people who helped create the program in the amended tweet.
Rosenberg wrote,
"Happy Anniversary Joe & co.. no need to mention any of the original people who started with you. We all know you love us."
He then continued, saying that Budden's failure to recognize him was
"annoying"
and that the former rapper has a habit of ignoring relationships from the past. Rosenberg acknowledged Budden's talent but insisted that his early assistance should not be disregarded.
Finally, he said,
"It would just be cool to acknowledge those who believed in you from the very beginning."
Following Rosenberg's most recent comments, users swiftly defended Budden. Many pointed out that Budden had previously recognized Rosenberg while brushing off the radio host's grievances.
A user defended Joe Budden by commenting,
"He def gave you a shoutout on the pod lmaooooo"
Others chimed in as another user commented,
"Ungrateful he shouted you out and you didn’t apologize."
Another user added,
"Am I the only person who thinks this is hella weird? Just say congrats and keep it moving - u making his moment about you - very strange behavior."
A user stated,
"Man, you are the biggest hater of the pod. You literally called all of his fans junkies! And not because they liked the pod. You have been begging for recognition for years now, move on. You will never be associated with the pod."
A history of clashes between Joe Budden and Peter Rosenberg
Budden and Rosenberg have been at odds for a long time. In the past, the two have argued on issues such as Budden's handling of former co-hosts Rory and Mal, Logic's creative integrity, and the general status of hip-hop media.
Budden notably left a Hot 97 interview in 2016 because Rosenberg said that he was instrumental in the launch of The Joe Budden Podcast. At the time, Budden denied the allegation, claiming that he was the only one to blame for the popularity of his podcast.
Only a few weeks have passed since Rosenberg chastised Budden for hinting at an interview with Candace Owens. Rosenberg referred to Owens as a "hackful hack" and described the action as unsatisfactory.
