DDG has been facing backlash for gifting his son Halo an unusual present for his birthday this weekend. In online videos, the father cradles his son as a shiny, new red Ferrari pulls up in the driveway during their Cocomelon-themed party.
The Snapchat video dictates, in all caps:
"LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT HALO FOR HIS 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!!"
In another video, however, the rapper can be seen out and about in his son's new car with the sunroof pulled down. The video has since gone viral-- and not in the rapper's favor. Users have been dissing him left and right for buying his son a gift he can't even use, with some accusing the YouTuber of buying it simply for himself. Here's how one user reacted:
"So again…he bought HIMSELF a car for his sons birthday 😂😂😂😂"
The comments didn't end there, as scores online jumped at the chance to diss the rapper:
"He got that car on Halos credit😂😂😂," one user joked.
"I know damn well he aint in halo shi already! 😭😭" another spewed.
"What a weird way to buy yourself a car 😂," someone else noted.
Even more chimed in:
"halo at home kickin and screamin because ddg took his toy 😅," one user jested.
"The fact y'all actually thought it was for the baby is NASTY WORK 🤢," another exclaimed.
"For my daughter birthday ima get me a expensive purse… it’s hers but ima borrow it from time to time til she grow into it 🥹😂😂😂😂😂😂," someone jokingly stated.
The comments section of the post was riddled with quips at the rapper's expense:
"How you buy yourself a car for your son birthday 😂😂😂😂😂😂" someone questioned.
"He bought that car for him and the whole thing was corny to me knowing that baby can’t drive that car for YEARS ! 🙄😒" another opined.
Users were visibly in disbelief at the sight of the YouTuber driving his son's gift around town.

Upon catching wind of the mounting ridicule against him, the rapper, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., took to X to diss his critics. When one user dubbed him the "corniest nigga on the internet" for driving his son's car around town, he replied:
"but i’m up & u not [laughing emoji] maybe u niggas should start being “corny”."
In yet another tweet, the 27-year-old dissed all his critics in one go:
