Fifteen years into the industry, Hailee Steinfield has made quite the name for herself as one of the industry's leading actresses. Starting off fresh with a debut that won her an Academy Award nomination, the actress has been a part of a diverse set of roles; from Marvel heroines to period drama protagonists; Steinfield has seen it all.

After her successful stunt as Marvel's Kate Bishop, the actress is now all set to play a vampire in Ryan Coogler's Sinners as she joins Michael B. Jordan in the horror adventure. A first for Hailee in this genre, the film is a period drama that stars Jordan in a dual role, and Stenfield plays the role of Mary, who is also the love interest of one of Jordan's characters.

Sharing more details about her character in Sinners in depth, the actress divulged into her project as she wrote to fans via her Beau Society newsletter. Talking about how the film is different than what she usually does, she said:

"... This role is far removed from what I've done, but that's part of what drew me to it! I feel like I'm stepping into my own more and more as I get older, and this role mirrors that."

She then extended her gratitude for being able to be a part of Coogler's work as she added:

"The minute I heard Ryan Coogler, I was in. Then I read his script and was like, 'Holy s---, this feels like a massive undertaking.' The story is so complex and layered. I was so fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered."

Sinners stars Michael Jordan, who is collaborating with Ryan Coogler once again after the success of the Black Panther series. Playing the role of two brothers, Jordan's character witnesses the true evil and horrors of the hometown he lives in, as the trailer suggests, where Jordan can be heard saying:

“I’ve been all over this world. I’ve seen men die in ways I ain’t even know was possible. Of all the things that I’ve seen, I ain’t ever seen no demons, no ghosts, no magic ... till now.”

The trailer appears to be gruesome, gory, thrilling and with all the right elements of horror. The film seems to have given key focus to some Southern elements, making it visually all the more appealing.

The plot synopsis for the film reads:

"Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers Smoke and Stack return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back."

Sinners is set to release on April 18, 2025.
