Fans are speculating about a potential rift between The White Lotus co-stars Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins. What started as signs of a small feud between them on social media has now escalated into something bigger after the two had opposing reactions to a controversial Saturday Night Live sketch.

The skit in question was called White POTUS, which aired during the April 12, 2025, episode of SNL and parodied The White Lotus while incorporating political satire relating to the Trump administration.

Actor Jon Hamm played a character based on Goggins’ Rick, while cast member Sarah Sherman spoofed Wood’s character, Chelsea. The depiction of Chelsea, however, drew backlash, particularly for her over-the-top trademark smile with giant false teeth.

Although the sketch got laughs from many people, including Goggins, who commented “Amazzzingggg” under the video and later reposted it on his Instagram Stories, Wood had a completely different response.

Aimee Lou Wood, in a string of Instagram Stories, called the parody “mean and unfunny.” Stressing that while she is a fan of satire, the characterization was one-dimensional and made fun of her looks rather than her acting. She wrote on her Instagram.

"I have big gap teeth not bad teeth. I don’t mind caricature - I understand that’s what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on."

People online asked Goggins to delete the comment made, as it seemed wrong and unnecessary amidst Wood's statement.

"It was mean with Aimee. Totally uncool and rude"

One netizen even suggested that the actor delete his comment supporting the mean sketch.

"I think you should delete the comment. It doesn't look good on you."

Fans did not hold back as they even criticized SNL for the skit. They were quick to point out the fact that Aimee Lou Wood’s portrayal seemed more like a punch-down comedy than a good parody.

"Making fun of Amiee’s looks was so gross. What kind of beauty standards are we setting on this show?" remarked one user.

Even more people chimed in, showing their disapproval of mocking the actress.

"This is absolutely uncalled for regarding the depiction of Aimee Lou Wood. And punching down. Mean and totally pathetic!" One netizen commented.
"what make you think its ok to take the piss out of someones teeth and accent? its all fun and games until you hurt the real actress," another wrote.

Walton Goggins talks about his weird personal connection with his White Lotus character

After the season finale of The White Lotus Season 3, actor Walton Goggins has revealed that he has a deeply personal connection to Thailand, the location of the show’s filming and his character.

Goggins, in a GQ interview, considered the fortunate parallels between his character Rick Hatchett’s story and his own backstory. Goggins revealed that he previously spent time in Thailand when dealing with the death of his wife, Leanne Knight, who died by suicide in 2004.

During that time, he traveled extensively in search of both healing and understanding. When he returned to Thailand for the HBO series, it supposedly unlocked several past memories for him.

Walton Goggins said that he recognized all the places. The film’s crew had unintentionally managed to find the exact spots he visited two decades ago in his mourning. One striking moment came when he happened to be doing some filming just blocks away from the hotel where he once stayed.
