Valerie Bertinelli, in an Instagram post on November 17, shared her experience of having an anxiety attack.
"I've sat on this post for a day because it's incredibly vulnerable and that's always scary to share. But I'm posting because we're all out here doing our best having a human experience and none of us want to feel like we're alone in that."
Valerie's Home Cooking host then went into details explaining that she had a "really bad anxiety attack today", noting that she hadn't had one like this in a "very very long time."
Valerie revealed that she was "weeping uncontrollably", her heart felt as though it was pounding out of her chest, and she couldn't stop shaking.
"Gratelly these attacks have become much more infrequent, so this one took me a little bit by surprise today."
She went on to show the after-effect of the anxiety attack.
Valerie Bertinelli asks her audience for tips to calm down after anxiety attack
While opening up about her anxiety attack in the recent post, Valerie Bertinelli asked if anyone else experienced an "extreme anxiety attack" and had after effects that take a while to calm down. She also urged her viewers to share anything they found to be helpful.
In September, 2024, during an experience on The Drew Barrymore Show, the cooking show host sat down with Drew Barrymore revealing that her postmenopause years have been the "most challenging" for her mental health.
Bertinelli joked that she is "menodead" since it has been about eight years since she went through menopause. Valerie Bertinelli noted that her menopause lasted for about "10 or 12 years" and she experienced all the symptoms such as hot flashes, brain fog, and more during these years.
In May, the One Day at a Time alum took to her Instagram account announcing that she will be taking a social media break since she's "mentally/emotionally exhausted." Bertinelli had been promoting her multi-stop book tour for her new cookbook Indulge at the time and revealed that the "last six or so weeks have been..a LOT."
Her post came after she split from her boyfriend of 10 months, Mike Goodnough. Valerie confirmed the split in an April 2024 People Magazine cover story and in another July interview with the magazine, Valerie said that the she has found it "challenging" to keep up with everything amidst her breakup and book tour adding that, "the summer has been booked full."
