Hip-hop icon Flavor Flav aka William Jonathan Drayton Jr. has come out in support of Chappell Roan for being rude to fans. Drayton Jr. appreciated the Good Luck, Babe! singer for calling out fans who gave her and her family a difficult time.

The hip-hop artist was unaware of these happenings when he pointed out that Roan should be more grateful. According to Daily Mail, Flav shared his thoughts on Chappell Roan’s behavior, expressing concern that distancing herself from fans could be a significant mistake, as the support of her audience is important for how she is perceived among people.

He also mentioned feeling uneasy if fans stopped approaching him for selfies, jokingly wondering if he had done something wrong. However, after Flavor Flav learned about the singer’s situation, he shared an X post on December 4, 2024, writing,

“I was asked about Chappell Roan and was told that she was rude to fans. I don’t really know her or the situation and said that it’s a mistake because it’s the fans that make us who we are. BUT,,, if individuals are threatening her privacy or boundaries,,, good for her to speak up,!!”

His statement was followed by three thumbs-up emojis which signified the veracity of Chappell Roan’s actions. Flav's remarks come two weeks after Miley Cyrus defended Roan during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Cyrus revealed she had reached out to Roan after the singer faced backlash for a TikTok video where she criticized overly enthusiastic fans and declared she didn’t care if she was perceived as selfish for setting boundaries. Cyrus empathized and appreciated how Roan acknowledged the challenges of navigating fame in the age of social media.

Previously, Chappell Roan said he would slow down her journey due to fan’s upsetting behavior

In July 2024, Roan discussed her struggles with fame on The Comment Section podcast, admitting she had decided to slow down her career due to unsettling fan behavior, which included stalking her family. She promised herself she would stop making music if such incidents threatened her loved ones' safety.

Chappell Roan addressed intrusive fan behavior in a TikTok video, questioning actions like stalking, harassment, and making assumptions about her life. She emphasized that it was important to respect boundaries and also stated she wouldn't tolerate such behavior.

Following her video, she reaffirmed her stance on Instagram and said she did not fear the consequences of demanding respect and questioning why her boundaries sparked such backlash.

While some fans supported her, calling her frustrations valid and recognizing the challenges of navigating fame, others criticized her online, accusing her of constant complaints and questioning her gratitude for success. Social media reactions were divided, with some urging her to appreciate her fame and others defending her right to set boundaries.

Despite the challenges, Chappell Roan highlighted the rewarding aspects of her career, such as being recognized by longtime idols and forming connections with stars she admired, like Miley Cyrus, who had been her first concert experience.
