Hot in Herre rapper Nelly, or Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., during a recent appearance on The Bootleg Kev podcast on March 24, looked back at a decade-long feud with Eminem and offered an apology to the fellow rapper.

"I misinterpreted something when I was really, really new and I want to apologize to Em. But I was at a time where, I'm coming in, I'm the new guy, anybody talking...Well, somehow I misinterpreted that he had something to say about what we were doing."

He added that Eminem wasn't trying to beef with him and called the rapper "the GOAT." Cornell mentioned that the two eventually met at an afterparty in Detroit where Eminem introduced him to his daughter, after which he realized that he had blown the whole thing out of proportion,

"Somebody came and was like, 'Yo, Em wanna come through and holler. He was like, 'Yo man, my daughter....' I felt like such a d**k. We were Eminem fans. And just miscommunication, man."

Fast forward, Cornell now thinks that Eminem is "dope" and is glad that the two sorted it out. He also expressed regret over starting an unnecessary feud noting,

"It's f***ed up when people that you f**k with and that you admire on a level...it's like, dude spits...I'm glad we squashed that. Em is a cat."

What happened between Nelly and Eminem?

Back on August 24, 2000, Nelly appeared as a guest host on MTV's TRL, a popular show in the 2000s that featured music videos. When host KK Holiday asked Nelly what he thinks about Eminem, the rapper replied saying,

"Well, you know, dirty, dirty, I don;t too much know nothing bout dirty, you know what I'm sayin. But he be having some sly little comments about me."

He then went on to allegedly call the rapper M&M, the candy.

"I don't play with candy, you know what I'm saying? I eat M&Ms flat out."

Rumors sparked that Eminem was on his way to release a diss track on the Country Grammar singer titled Detroit Grammar. However, nothing of that sort happened, and it was speculated that the two moved on. But, two years later, Eminem fired back at Cornell with the 2002 song, Invasion, where he made a reference to Cornell's popular song, Air Force Ones.

"Stomping in my Air Force Ones/ But you won't be able to tell / If it's two pairs or one / It's just gonna fell like so many feet kicking you"

As per Nelly's recent recount of the incident, the two seem to have squashed their feud.
