G20, the upcoming Amazon Prime Video original film starring Viola Davis, is all the action we need right now.

A female President fighting with the bad guys to save her family and country? That is exactly what the first official trailer of this action film promises. Davis, who is most popularly known for playing Amanda Waller in DC's Suicide Squad, must race against time to save her family and world-class leaders from the bad guys.

The story follows a G20 summit in Cape Town, which is hijacked, and all the world leaders are taken hostages. The trailer looks promising, with intense sequences and high-packed action.

The movie is written by Caitlin Parrish, Erica Weiss, and Logan Miller, and the director's seat is commanded by Patricia Riggen. Davis also serves as a producer on the movie, along with Julius Tennon and Andrew Lazar.

In addition to Davis, The Boys' Homelander, Antony Starr stars as Rutledge, the man who has hijacked the summit and kidnapped all world leaders. Anthony Anderson and Marsai Martin also stars as Davis' family.

Other cast includes Ramón Rodríguez as Agent Manny Ruiz, Elizabeth Marvel as Joanna, Douglas Hodge as Oliver, Christopher Farrar as Demetrius, and Sabrina Impacciatore as Elena.

The official synopsis of G20 reads as follows:

''President Sutton “must outsmart the enemy to protect her family, defend her country and safeguard world leaders in this action-packed thrill ride.”

Fans are calling the trailer the ultimate showdown between Amanda Waller and Homelander. The trailer also takes a dig and calls Davis's President as Captain America, as she jumps through the elevator shaft, captures the bad guys, and shoots in style, all the while wearing a gorgeous red dress.

Talking about her character in an interview with Variety, Davis noted:

“It was the sort of thing you’d imagine as a kid, just playing the most heroic character you could possibly play, and you create Danielle Sutton, who was a war hero and then won the election on a liberal ticket,”

She added:

“I think it just so happens that it mirrored a lot of what was happening in American politics at the time, but really it’s just meant to be a fun movie.”

Riggen added:

“With ‘G20,’ I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern and technologically advanced world we live in. I hope to give audiences an experience that will captivate them from start to finish.”

The movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video on April 10, 2025.
