Friday The 13th prequel series Crystal Lake casts Marvel star in a new role 

Friday The 13th has been one of the most popular franchises in American media. The last film of the franchise came out in 2009 and the newest project, a prequel, Crystal Lake is in the works. As Variety reports, Marvel star Linda Cardellini will star as Pamela Voorhees in the prequel.

Pamela Voorhees is quite a popular character. The character has been mostly an antagonist and has earlier been played by Betsy Palmer, Marilyn Poucher, Paula Shaw, and Nana Visitor. While these actresses played an older Pamela or her ghost form, Linda Cardellini is set to play a much younger version of the character.

Marvel fans will be quick to recognize Crystal Lake's Linda Cardellini who played Laura Barton in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2025), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Hawkeye (2021). Laura Barton is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is also married to Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye.

Linda Cardellini was not seen on screen for too long as Laura Burton, but fans loved her nonetheless. Cardellini's other notable work includes her roles in Bloodline, Mad Men, and Dead to Me. She is also a three-time Emmy nominee. Fans of Friday The 13th will hopefully enjoy her performance as Jason's mother.

Who is Pamela Vorhees in Friday The 13th Prequel?

The first Friday The 13th film came out in 1980, followed by eleven more films. In the Friday The 13th franchise, Pamela Vorhees played by Betsy Palmer is the mother of Jason Vorhees, a young boy who is believed to have drowned at Camp Crystal Lake due to the negligence of two of his counselors. After her son's death, Pamela seeks revenge from the counselors responsible for Jason's death.

While Friday The 13th films mostly feature Jason as the killer or the focal point of murders, Crystal Lake will focus on the events that occurred before the original film. The show will most likely focus on Pamela than what happens to Jason after he grows up.

Rumors suggest that Crystal Lake is set to come out on Peacock sometime around Halloween this year. Brad Caleb is the writer, showrunner, and producer of the series. While Victor Miller, the writer of the original film is not joining the team as a writer, he is an an executive producer along with Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil.

The series is being developed by Peacock and A24. Linda Cardellini is playing Pamela Voorhees and Adrienne King will be reprising her role as Alice Hardy. Other cast members are yet to be announced.
