Freddie Gibbs and DJ Akademiks' years-long feud took yet another turn when the former took to X to call his adversary a "b****." In response, the media personality took to a livestream to call Gibbs out on his rocky relationships.
Gibbs' response comes on the heels of DJ Akademiks' conversation with NourGxd, a 15-year-old content creator, during a live stream. At the time, the hip-hop media figure kept bringing up inappropriate scenarios, and while he has since apologized, Freddie Gibbs chose to call him out for it.
The feud between the two stems back to four years ago, back in June 2020, when Gibbs sat down for an interview with The Bootleg Kev Podcast. At the time, the rapper said this about Jeezy:
“Let’s be real, dawg. Did you listen to his last album? No you f***ing didn’t. He’s a legend but right now, you’re irrelevant.”
DJ Akademiks jumped to Jeezy's defense, and things only spiraled downhill from there.
All we know about Freddie Gibbs and DJ Akademiks' rocky history:
Not long after Gibbs gave his opinion about Jeezy, DJ Akademiks said this, as reported by Highsnobiety:
"if Jeezy is irrelevant, Freddie Gibbs, you are absolutely irrelevant as well [...] If Jeezy drop an album right now, he sell 50,000... Relevancy means is your music actually doing anything? And to be honest, other than the few people who f*** with Freddie Gibbs, what relevancy does he have?”
The feud continued into November 2021, when Gibbs insinuated that he'd be able to "smoke" the media personality, but instead, he’s “letting n-ggaz breathe The Lord’s good oxygen.”
Nonetheless, back DJ Akademik fired back during one of his live streams that same month:
"Don’t talk about you coulda done this, done that. Harv [a member of 6ix9ine’s Tr3yway crew] shot at you! 6ix9ine told us that, n-gga … You ain’t get no get-back. You ran from New York like a b****. Stop playing with me, n-gga. Acting like you some big bad n-gga because I’m a blogger? You can’t beef with no rapper?”
He also mockingly referred to Gibbs as an “internet gangsta” while suggesting that he “stop tweeting” and “start spinning.” He also vowed to “ignore him from now on." He later took to X to double down on his threats against Freddie Gibbs:
"Every day u tweet about me instead of spinning like u rap about u just a fake a-s rap Ni–a to me. @FreddieGibbs,” he wrote. “Freddie Gibbs literally a internet gangsta who get online trolling for jokes and retweets and talking like he a steppa. Well @FreddieGibbs u n everybody say I’m a bi–h. It’s on u to make a example of me. But please for the love of God.. STOP TWEETING. Start Spinning.”
Over the years, the two have been involved in several public spats. During this week's heated exchange, Akademiks mocked Gibbs over the fact that the mother of his unborn child admitted to getting intimate with someone else while she was heavily pregnant.
