Doug Kiker, a former contestant on American Idol, passed away on March 12, 2025. His sisters, Angela Evans and Donna Kiker Carrillos-Ramirez, confirmed his unfortunate death at the age of 32 via Facebook.
A month after his demise, news disclosing the reason leading to the tragic incident has surfaced. According to a TMZ report, The Singing Garbage Man lost his life to an accidental overdose of opioids.
TMZ obtained a report from the City and County of Denver Medical Examiner and reported that Doug Kiker suffered from blended effects of amphetamines, fentanyl, and methadone. He also took cocaine during that time. However, an accident was labeled as the reason for his death.
Doug Kiker's cause of death has been confirmed
Doug was admitted to a hospital a few days before he passed away. In March, a passerby found the singer on a street in Denver and dialled 911 to report the shocking incident.
According to law enforcement sources, the walker saw Doug Kiker in a scary state and guessed he had suffered from an overdose of drugs.
Soon, paramedics arrived at the scene and took him to the hospital. He was hospitalized for around five days.
Doug's sister, Donna Kiker Carrillos-Ramirez, updated the tragic news on Facebook. She penned:
"Today I got the call that no one wants to get. We lost an amazing person today."
Recalling times spent together, she further continued:
"He had the biggest smile and knew how to make you laugh. I know I didn’t raise him but I never stopped loving him. My parents did an amazing job with him. Douglas Kiker you will forever be missed. Fly high. Say hey to grandma."
Doug Kiker's sister, Angela Evans, also confirmed the news on Facebook.
Sharing his photos, she wrote:
"It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my brother Douglas Kiker he was sooo loved and will be missed by so many! Your singing with the Angel's now Bubba Please pray for our family as we go threw this very difficult time"
Angela Evans created a GoFundMe to cover the expenses required for Doug's funeral. The GoFundMe description mentions:
"Help Us Lay Our Loved One to Rest. It is with heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to one of the most sincere souls and most hilarious person of all. Douglas, a beloved son, brother, father and friend"
Doug left behind two kids. He welcomed them with Valerie Cook, his ex-fiancée.
