As the awards season is in the air, Timothée Chalamet has just taken home his first big recognition for A Complete Unknown as the actor bagged the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Motion Picture for his role as Bob Dylan in the film.
Apart from it being a notable honor for the actor, he also happens to be the youngest actor to have won the coveted award. Prior to Chalamet, this record was held by Nicolas Cage, who was 32 when he won for Leaving Las Vegas in 1995.
The 'Dune' actor went on to accept the award from Michelle Yeoh and Lily Gladstone, and gave a heartfelt speech as he reflected on his journey to become Bob Dylan on screen.
“This was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan, a true American hero, and it was the honor of a lifetime playing him.”
He added on about his willingness to be one of the greats, as he said,
“I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day, Lewis, Marlon, Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I’m deeply grateful. This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel. it’s a little more ammo to keep going. Thank you so much.”
Timothée Chalamet in A Complete Unknown

As an actor who has constantly picked up challenging roles during his time in the industry, A Complete Unknown happens to be the most rigorous journey Chalamet has taken as he brought the musical star to life on screen, in the most stellar and thoughtful way. After spending five years training for the role of Bob Dylan, Chalamet also took up vocal training and a mastery of instruments to portray Dylan more effectively. Moreover, he sings his own songs in the film, showcasing his multi-talented prowess on screen.
Timothée Chalamet is one of the top contenders for this year's Oscars and might just bag his first Academy Award, after having lost it in 2018 to Gary Oldman.
A Complete Unknown will be available to stream on Apple TV and Prime Video soon.
