Alison Brie joins Dave Franco in Together, a visceral body horror film backed by Neon. The official trailer has just dropped online, and it offers a peek into writer-director Michael Shanks' vision. Per IMDb, the film is about,

"A couple's move to the countryside triggers a supernatural incident that drastically alters their relationship, existence, and physical form."

The trailer doesn't offer any concrete details about the plotline. It only shows a few fleeting glimpses into the life of a couple, Millie and Tim (Brie and Franco) moving into a house in the countryside. Their relationship seems picture-perfect, almost like the charming romance dramas that we often revisit. However, the trailer quickly pulls the rug from under our feet and reveals some creepier undertones.

Something seems off but it's not clear why. The couple appears either terrified or dreading something. Whether they fall, bend, or run, they seem to be in some sort of agony. In the final moments of the clip, Tim says, "I love you," to which Millie replies, "I love you too," with a drop in her eyes.

This eerie romance horror film will hit the theaters in the coming months.

Alison Brie and Dave Franco team up for Together, a body horror film, that premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival to an overwhelmingly positive reception. The film was soon picked up by Neon, the indie distributor that backed buzzed projects like Anora, Longlegs, The Monkey, and Parasite.

Together marks a feature directorial debut of Michael Shanks, a Melbourne-based director, who has previously worked as a composer and a VFX artist. His film is the latest collaboration of Brie and Franco, a real-life couple, who have previously collaborated in films like The Disaster Artist, Somebody I Used to Know, Horse Girl, The Rental, and The Little Hours.

As mentioned before, the film received a warm reception after its Sundance premiere. The Hollywood Reporter's David Rooney wrote,

"Director Shanks is in his devilishly playful element, while Brie and Franco throw themselves full force into a scenario that keeps getting weirder."

Screen International's Tim Grierson said,

"Brie and Franco, who also serve as producers lend star power, and the film’s catchy conceit could make this a fun date-night prospect for couples with a demented sense of humor."

Brian Tallerico from RogerEbert.com wrote,

"Couples who have been together as long as Tim & Millie start to question where one person ends and the other begins. “Together” turns that concept into physical horror in a way that’s unforgettable."

Together, starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco is scheduled to be theatrically released on August 1, 2025.
