Babygirl star Nicole Kidman joins Succession star Matthew Macfadyen in Holland, the latest mystery thriller from Amazon Prime Video. The official trailer has just dropped online, and it seems as creepy as director Mimi Cave's feature-film directorial debut, Fresh. Per IMDb, the film follows,

"Nancy's (Nicole Kidman) picture-perfect life in quaint Holland, Michigan crumbles, when she and a friend uncover a twisted secret in their midst."

The trailer shows Kidman and Macfadyen as the Vandergroots, an old-school married couple living in a suburban American town. Kidman calls it "the best place in the world" as she returns to her husband (Macfadyen) and their son (Jude Hill). Everything looks squeaky clean until it doesn't. Suddenly, it feels bizarre, almost like a cross between Olivia Wilde's Don't Worry Darling and Ari Aster's Midsommar.

Nicole Kidman and Matthew Macfadyen star alongside Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries, Y tu mamá también), Jude Hill (Belfast, A Haunting in Venice), and Rachel Sennott (Bodies Bodies Bodies, Saturday Night) in this film, written by Andrew Sodroski.

Lennon Parham (Minx, Playing House), Chris Witaske (The Bear, Love), Jeff Pope (Carry-on, Prisoners), and Isaac Krasner (Big Boys, Power Book III: Raising Kanan) make up the key supporting cast.

After an acclaimed performance in Halina Reijn's Babygirl, Nicole Kidman returns with a new film, which looks like a mystery thriller meets dark comedy in a suburban setting. Its official synopsis, per SXSW, reads,

"In this wildly unpredictable thriller, Nicole Kidman is the meticulous Nancy Vandergroot, a teacher and homemaker whose picture-perfect life with her community pillar husband and son in tulip-filled Holland, Michigan tumbles into a twisted tale. Nancy and her friendly colleague become suspicious of a secret, only to discover nothing in their lives is what it seems."

The film was reportedly in plans in 2013 with Errol Morris (The Fog of War, The Thin Blue Line), then-titled Holland, Michigan, with a different cast. Now, it marks Mimi Cave's sophomore directorial after Fresh, a cannibal romance thriller starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and (Normal People, Twisters) and Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice, A Different Man).

Andrew Sodroski, known as a co-creator of the Discovery Channel drama series Manhunt, has written the screenplay. Kate Churchill, Peter Dealbert, and Per Saari serve as the film's producers alongside Kidman.

Holland will have its world premiere at the SXSW (South by Southwest) festival on March 9, 2025, ahead of its debut on Amazon Prime Video on March 27.
