The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the next superhero film in 2025 that fans are waiting for. This Matt Shakman-directed film is produced by Kevin Feige and is scheduled to be released theatrically on July 25, 2025. Here's the official synopsis, pre IMDb:
Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, the Fantastic Four must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer.
The film will also star a female version of Quicksilver that might have a long-lasting impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Let us find out.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Female Silver Surfer might change the MCU
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is reportedly going to have a female Silver Surfer, and there is also a theory regarding the real identity of Galactus, the villain. The film introduces Galactus to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). One of the theories suggests that Franklin Richards is actually the antagonist Galactus. There is a futuristic version of Richards that turns into the villain as he travels back in time to destroy planet Earth.
In the Earth X storyline, Franklin Richards loses his memory and lives on as Galactus. He starts targeting planets that have celestials in them. Shalla-Bal was the love interest of Norrin Radd, or the Silver Surfer. In the MCU storyline, Shalla-Bal is also the female Silver Surfer. But fans would know that in the comic books, Shalla-Bal had become the Silver Surfer and was one of the heralds of Galactus. So the character being present in the film could mean that Franklin is Galactus.
If this turns out to be true, we can expect the angle of time travel in upcoming films and shows of the MCU, which might have its implications in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. There will also be a rare instance in the franchise where a superhero turns into a villain.
