Jack Quaid is currently making waves as the star of Novocaine. The 32-year-old actor also starred in Companion, a recent sci-fi thriller, which has become a critical darling. So, it's fair to say he is having a great year so far. There is another thing that can put a smile on his face.
The fans of Max Payne, the much-loved video game series, are casting Quaid in a hypothetical film adaptation. The game was already adapted into a 2008 action thriller film, starring Mark Wahlberg as Payne. However, the fans are looking forward to a possible reboot with Quaid as the titular hero. They started voicing this opinion on social media after seeing him in the Novocaine trailer. With the film's release, they are looking forward to even more, considering their recent reactions.
Novocaine, for those who are unaware, follows an introverted bank employee who has a rare condition. He cannot feel any pain, which got him in trouble with school bullies. The same ability (or inability) is tested when he needs to save the love of his life from a group of delinquents. The film shows Quaid's character in intense fighting scenes as he comes face to face with these criminals.
Novocaine star Jack Quaid is a frontrunner in the fan casting of a potential Max Payne adaptation
Jack Quaid has made a name for himself as Hughie Campbell, The Boys character, who often finds himself in some sort of trouble. Novocaine shows him getting into serious fights. This makes him ideal to play Max Payne, who constantly feels pain, according to many fans online.
The Max Payne fans are pointing out the similarities between their hero and Jack Quaid, including their facial structure and physique. The same was mentioned in a recent Q&A on Reddit when a fan asked Quaid about his dream role of a hypothetical video game adaptation.
Jack Quaid replied,
"I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of Bioshock - one of my favorite games of all time. I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation. I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately, I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
In another Reddit thread, some fans are voicing their support for this casting choice.
"Just saw the trailer before watching Mickey 17...I came here to say the same thing but it looks like everybody else had the same idea, and I’m really glad."
Another user said,
"Compared to Marky Mark, this is a f***ing dream casting."
