Ryan Coogler's Sinners will hit the theaters next month. Ahead of its release, a new clip from the film has arrived online, which makes it clear that evil is imminent in this world.
The video is a part of the film's promotional campaign leading up to its eventual premiere. It doesn't reveal any new information about the film but offers just the kind of adrenaline rush that will get the fans amped up. There is still over a month left for the film's theatrical release, but the video surely looks like a step in the right direction. As the title suggests, no magic or ghosts but only power might prevail in this world.
The video offers assembled clips that fans must have seen in the film's official trailers. Michael B. Jordan's twin characters appear mainly in a rage-fueled mode as they try to ward off the evil in their hometown. While merely 15 seconds long, this promotional video is a concise look into what awaits the audience. If the clip is to be believed, the film will surely be a loud and tense ride since horror and violence will follow its characters nearly every step of the way.
More details about Ryan Coogler's Sinners, starring Michael B Jordan
Sinners is yet another collaboration between Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan. The pair has most famously collaborated on two Black Panther projects for the MCU, where Jordan played Erik Killmonger. However, this actor-director duo has been working since their Sundance hit, Fruitvale Station.
Since then, Jordan has appeared in all the films Coogler has directed. So, their collaborative history might be for the books, much like Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro or Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune.
Sinners might just be Jordan and Coogler's way toward this celebrated list. It will follow Jordan in a dual role of twin brothers who return to their hometown for a fresh start only to find a greater evil waiting for them. Although a supernatural thriller, the film borrows historical elements for its narrative.
“It’s a world that my grandparents were a part of. A time that is overlooked in American history,”
Coogler told The Hollywood Reporter during their discussion about Sinners. He further spoke about the value of a communal, theatrical experience for a film and hopes the same for his film.
“It’s a love letter to the experience of watching an exhilarating movie in a packed house full of strangers, not knowing what’s going to happen next. So many incredible films have given me that feeling, so I wanted to try my hand at giving it back to audiences.”
