Sneak peek of Eleanor The Great revealed

Recently, the makers of the upcoming drama film Eleanor The Great released its sneak peek. The first look has June Squibb, who plays the titular Eleanor Morgenstein, looking at something as she smiles. In the background, we can see a giant wheel that denotes she is standing at a carnival.

While the first look only reveals its main character, it manages to provide a glimpse into the character and the world she lives in. The official synopsis of the film reads,

After seventy years with best friend, Eleanor moves to New York City for a fresh start. Making new friends at ninety proves difficult. Longing for connection, she befriends a 19-year-old student.

Besides Squibb, the film also stars a bunch of other interesting names. These include:

  • Chiwetel Ejiofor
  • Rita Zohar as Bessie
  • Jessica Hecht
  • Erin Kellyman
  • Lia Lando
  • Will Price
  • Greg Kaston
  • Swanmy Sampaio as Actriz
  • Stephen Singer as Rabbi Cohen
  • Cole Tristan Murphy as Charlie
  • Jacob Flekier as Zephyr
  • Zach Fike Hodges as Scott
  • Kathryn Mayer as Jeanne

The film was announced in September 2023, and it was titled Eleanor, Invisible. It was shot between February and April 2024 and it took place in various locations, including Coney Island.

In December 2024, Squibb gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter where she was asked about Eleanor The Great. The actress, who was basking in the success of her film Thelma, spoke about Johansson's directorial debut. She said,

“I’m very excited about that. To have movies like Thelma and Eleanor the Great, you don’t often have two in a row like these, I’ll tell you that."

She further praised Johansson and said that the Avengers actress used her knowledge as a performer in the film.

“She was wonderful. With her knowledge as an actress, she knew immediately what I was doing, where I was going and how I was shifting everything. That’s wonderful because you don’t often have that. I’ve worked with wonderful directors that don’t have that kind of knowledge like Scarlett does, so this was something very special.”
