Dwayne Johnson is slated to star in Martin Scorsese's latest film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt.

According to the reports, this is a crime drama set in Hawaii. Johnson and Brunt brought the idea behind this film to Scorsese and DiCaprio and they will now co-star in this film along with DiCaprio. Nick Bilton is set to write this project for the screen. He is a writer and journalist who has previously worked on the writing team of HBO's The Idol.

The film's description, per the reports on Deadline, is:

"Imagine Robert De Niro’s Jimmy the Gent character from Goodfellas, but as a ruthless Hawaiian crime boss, based on a real figure, who battled encroaching rivals for control of organized crime in Hawaii."

Scorsese, Blunt, Johnson, DiCaprio, and Bilton will all serve as the producers, along with Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette, and Rick Yorn.

Dwayne Johnson to star in an upcoming Martin Scorsese film with Leonardo Dicaprio and Emily Blunt

Dwayne Johnson, widely known for his work in big-budget blockbusters, will star in Martin Scorsese's upcoming film alongside Emily Blunt and Scorsese's frequent collaborator Leonardo Dicaprio.

Deadline has also shared a few more details about this project, which sounds like Scorsese's The Departed meets his Goodfellas. Their detailed description for this Dwayne Johnson project reads:

"The film focuses on a turbulent time on the island paradise when an aspiring mob boss battled rival crime factions to wrest control of the underworld of the Hawaiian islands. It was a bloody battle, the kind of terrain Scorsese covered in both Goodfellas and The Departed. In the 1960s and 70s Hawaii, this formidable and charismatic mob boss rises to build the island’s most powerful criminal empire, waging a brutal war against mainland corporations and rival syndicates while fighting to preserve his ancestral land. It’s based on the untold true story of a man who fought to preserve his homeland through a ruthless quest for absolute power — igniting the last great American mob saga, where the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise."

Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson have previously collaborated on the 2021 action-adventure thriller Jungle Cruise. They will star in Bennie Safdie's solo directorial, The Smashing Machine, which revolves around mixed-martial arts and UFC champion Mark Kerr's story. Dwayne Johnson will play Mark Kerr, while Emily Blunt will play his then-partner, Dawn Staples.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Dicaprio have a long history of working together as a director-actor duo in films like The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Shutter Island (2010), and Gangs of New York (2002). The new Hawaii-set crime drama will be the latest addition to this list.
