Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham released his latest track, Small Town Fame, on February 14, 2025. However, what has caught the internet’s attention is the mention of singers like Charli XCX and Tate McRae in the song. The part of the lyrics that mentions their names is:

“B*tch, I feel like Tate McRae, Vanilla ice and white h*es, straight cake, uh, Ni**as love to talk, man, stack somethin', Puttin' Charli up her nose, X on her tongue, She been geekin' hard, she done had a BRAT Summer.”

Social media users had mixed reactions to the song. While some criticized him for using their names, others made jokes by referencing his feud with Kendrick Lamar. One X user wrote:

“Dont know what hes yapping about but it better not be a drag.”

While some social media users mocked him, others pointed out that he was trying to be relevant.

“Did he forget to mention Kendrick Lamar or he gave up ??” a social media user joked.
“I’m so happy that people are starting to realize his music is so lame,” a person opined.
“Using their names to become relevant after being ended by Kendrick Lamar is another L for Drake,” a netizen reacted.

Netizens praised Brat Summer’s influence and also appreciated the Canadian rapper for including the names.

“Okay but BRAT summer sounds like it’s about to be the 2025 summer anthem,” an online user noted.
“That’s a wild reference,” another X user suggested.
“Drake shows love to rising female artists!” a netizen remarked.
“Tate McRae and Charli getting a shoutout? BRAT Summer influence is real!” an internet user pointed out.

‘Small Town Fame’ is a part of Drake and PartyNextDoor’s joint album

Drake and PartyNextDoor’s joint album, Some S*xy Songs 4 U, includes 21 tracks with a runtime of 74 minutes. This marks the rapper’s first full-length project since For All The Dogs in 2023, aside from the 100 Gigs EP, and follows PartyNextDoor’s P4, which dropped in 2024.

Recently, the Canadian rapper brought out PND during his Melbourne concert as a surprise for fans on his Anita Max Wynn Tour. He announced the album at the show, describing it as a mix of high-energy tracks and personal, emotional songs, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

The album features collaborations with Yebba on Die Trying, Chino Pacas on Meet Your Padre, and Pim on Pimmie’s Dilemma.

Another interesting reference in this album is the mention of the ninth track, titled Brian Steel. According to The Independent, the song appears to pay tribute to the defense attorney who represented Young Thug during his high-profile racketeering trial in 2023. Steel has been a prominent legal figure in Atlanta, practicing law since 1991.

The duo first hinted at the project in August 2024 when Drake made a surprise appearance at PND’s Toronto show.

Graham and PartyNextDoor have a history of working together, dating back to 2013 when Drake was featured on Over Here from PND’s debut album, released through OVO Sound.
