Superman is one of the most anticipated films of 2025 in the superhero genre. The upcoming film, which was written and directed by James Gunn, is the maiden project in the DC Universe and a reboot of the series.
The official synopsis reads:
Follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the human way in a world that views this as old-fashioned.
David Corenswet plays the titular superhero in this film, a role that has been portrayed by several actors over the years. Recently, the actor revealed that he doesn't take criticism to heart.
David Corenswet talks about Superman criticism
Recently, Corenswet spoke about the criticism he has faced from people on the internet for playing the superhero in the upcoming film Superman. Speaking to Esquire Magazine, the actor said that he does not take it personally.
“I like to grow and improve myself with criticism. I don’t take it personally. I see it as something to learn from. And all actors have to accept that for what it is to grow professionally.”
He further spoke about James Gunn's imagination.
"James Gunn has a tremendous imagination. I’m only here to deliver the lines he’s written. It’s a very particular vision, spiced up with some wonderful elements and performances. I hope I measure up to it in the audience’s eyes.”
Superman marks the beginning of the DCU Universe, which James Gunn has started ever since he, along with Peter Safran, became CEOs of DC Studios. The makers recently released a new look for the film. The plot is inspired by All-Star Superman series of comics. Corenswet plays the role of Clark Kent, while Rachel Brosnahan is portraying Lois Lane. Other cast members include,

In July 2024, Gunn posted on Instagram to announce the wrap of Superman. He wrote:
"God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity, and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a movie about a good man in a world that isn’t always so much."
The film will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on July 11, 2025.
