Let us find out more details about the forthcoming The Accountant 3.
"There's always been three" — Gavin O'Connor on the idea of The Accountant 3

Gavin O'Connor reveals in the interview with Collider that ever since the beginning of the first The Accountant movie, it was intended to be a three-part film series. He mentions:
“There's always been three. Since post-production, since I started editing the first one. I didn't know Bill [Dubuque]. We met on the first movie. I got the script from Lynette Howell Taylor, and then from the script that I initially got, I started working with Bill. I think any filmmaker’s going to do it. You get a script, you respond to it. How does it affect you personally? But then you keep climbing inside of it. It becomes your own aesthetic and sensibility.”
Gavin O'Connor also praises Bill Dubuque, highlighting their incredible working equation. The director says:
“Bill was a great partner in allowing me to start taking it in directions. Once we started working together, and we became really good friends — I love Bill. He's just the greatest."
He also adds about how the trilogy came into place:
"We started talking about, and I said, ‘We should be doing three of these, so what’s the interstitial movie?’ Which is two, which is now, exactly what we talked about. And we have three.”
The first film of this series, The Accountant, was released back in 2016, and after eight years its sequel, The Accountant 2, is slated to commercially open in April 2025. It has now been clarified that the wait time between the second and third part won't be lengthy.
Speaking to ScreenRant, the director opens up on the subject:
"Yeah, that was important to me and I was very happy that Amazon embraced that. We were always calling it Account Square. It won't take eight years."
