The Betty White Commemorative Stamp and the easter egg

The United States Postal Service (USPS) plans to release a commemorative Forever stamp in recognition of Betty White's legendary career and impact. The stamp honors White's cultural influence and commitment to entertainment with a depiction of her smiling, but for eagle-eyed fans, there's more than meets the eye. If one looks at the stamp closely, they can notice an earring on her right ear in the shape of a paw print, symbolizing White's love for animals.

According to the artist Dale Stefanos, who hails from Massachusetts, Betty White is depicted in a loving and warm photo that captures her distinct elegance and charm. He described this opportunity as being "like winning the lottery."

A little paw print earring on White's right ear is one of the design's most striking elements, paying homage to her longtime commitment to animal welfare. Stefanos chose the color purple, as it represents protest, and in this case, the color in the stamp aligns with White's unwavering support for animal rights.

Stefanos initially found it challenging to incorporate the idea of including animals in the stamp— a request from White’s family to highlight her love for animals and activism. However, he found inspiration when he noticed his wife wearing animal paw print clothing while having breakfast. From there, he creatively incorporated the idea into the stamp.

The stamp took about a year to complete, with 10-15 hours spent perfecting the final image.
