Director Andy Muschietti gives a crucial update on the DCU film Brave and The Bold

Brave and The Bold is one of the upcoming DCU projects under James Gunn's helm. Gunn, who has directed the new Superman movie, hopes to reboot the DC universe with a new set of projects. One of them is the new Brave and the Bold movie, slated to be directed by Andy Muschietti, who is known for his work on the It movies and The Flash. However, there is a crucial update for the DC fans looking forward to this project. Unfortunately, it isn't the kind they will be happy with.

During a recent interview on the California Secreta podcast, Muschietti revealed a disappointing update about Brave and The Bold. When asked about a timeline for this upcoming project and its development, he said that it has been postponed.

Brave and The Bold: Latest update about the DCU film

After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn became focused on revitalizing the DC universe by bringing in new and fresh talent. With this thought, he decided to go ahead with a few projects. One of them is Batman: The Brave and the Bold is slated to be directed by Andy Muscietti. Muscietti is reportedly writing the screenplay for this movie with Alien: Romulus screenwriter Rodo Sayagues.

The DC fans and the audiences hoping for another Batman project were looking forward to it. However, there is an unfortunate development about this movie. During his recent appearance on the California Secreta podcast, Muscietti said:

“I’m now writing a science fiction movie that I would like to do… Batman is a project that’s been postponed a bit. So there could be another film before it, possibly that one.”

As Muscietti mentioned, Batman: Brave and The Bold has been delayed for the time being. There are a few potential reasons behind this delay. During a recent interview about the upcoming DCU projects, Gunn mentioned:

"Until we have a screenplay that I’m totally happy with, that movie is not going to get made, no matter what it is."

So, the postponement may have to do with his lack of complete satisfaction from the screenplay. Regardless, no official release date for this project has been announced yet.
