The Monkey star Tatiana Maslany reveals why she couldn't stand to watch her own bloody shot
The official synopsis of The Monkey, per IMDb, reads:
"When twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father's old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start. The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years."
As the story of The Monkey unfolds, Hal and Bil's mother gets inflicted with a mysterious case of aneurysm after the toy monkey starts playing its deadly, evil games. The children discover her in the kitchen only to find her having an attack. Then we see her face covered in blood, and even her tears look red.
Soon after, Lois dies tragically, with her head exploding like a bomb and blood all around. In her recent interview with Dexerto, Tatiana Maslany reportedly mentioned that filming the sequence was not easy for her. After it was done, she even had to be taken off set immediately to clear the blood all over her. So, she did not get the chance to watch the playback.
Per Dexerto, she also highlighted the challenges of filming the scene where she reportedly had something on her head that had to go off at the right time to get the correct shot. According to her statements, it was quite overwhelming for her, with the entire crew watching and waiting patiently for the shot to be successful.
Later on, Tatiana even praised the visual effects artists for portraying the whole scene with such a close resemblance to real life. She shared her filming experience, saying:
"And the effects team was so awesome. I’d worked with them on the previous movie that Oz and I did, and it’s so much fun."
