Tracy Morgan was recently at the MSG attending the Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks game. During the game, the actor-comedian had a medical emergency and was helped out of the venue. Morgan was sitting at the courtside when he vomited.
It is unclear whether the 56-year-old is currently struggling with a health-related issue. In 1996, Tracy Morgan was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He also struggled with alcoholism at that time. The 30 Rock star did overcome alcoholism easily and opened up about his sobriety in a 2007 interview with People.
“I’ve been sober for a year-and-a-half now, and I feel it all. I’m not inebriated anymore. I want to feel the good, the bad and the ugly. I want to remember it all. I couldn’t do that when I wasn’t sober. What I have learned over the years is to try to stay in the moment. I want to feel it all because I’ve realized nothing lasts. I’m not perfect but I strive for it. I take it one day at a time, but if you can get it to one hour at a time, I’m good.”
Tracy Morgan’s health struggles also forced him to get a kidney transplant in December 2010. His former girlfriend, Tanisha Hall, donated one of her kidneys to the actor. He acknowledged Hall on the SAG Awards 2011 red carpet while talking to the E! News correspondent:
“I'd like to thank Tanisha for donating my kidney to me.”
Tanisha reportedly dated the comedian for some time after his divorce from his first wife in 2009.
Tracy Morgan had a near-fatal accident in 2014

Apart from his health struggles with diabetes and a subsequent kidney transplant, Morgan was severely injured during a traffic collision. The former SNL comedian had a near-fatal accident in June 2014 when a Walmart truck crashed into his group’s vehicle from behind. After the collision, Morgan was left in a coma for more than a week, while his friend and fellow comedian, James McNair, died.
The Coming 2 America actor sued Walmart in July 2014 for negligence, and the firm settled with an estimated $90 million compensation, per Wilson Law. Tracy Morgan reportedly suffered from a brain injury, which caused him headaches and nosebleeds even after recovering from the accident. The actor-comedian opened up in front of Matt Lauer on NBC’s Today show in 2015:
“There are times where I have my good day and my bad days, where I forget things. There are times where I get the headaches, and the nosebleeds. I won’t even let my lady know because I don’t want her to be worried about it.”
He also remarked on settling the suit with Walmart:
“The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac… Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal.”
Tracy was in a wheelchair for five months after the crash happened and used a cane during his appearance on Today. He reflected upon the accident again in 2024, speaking to People:
“Today is 10 years since our fateful accident, and I want to say to everyone who was in the van with me that night I Love you, and we miss you, Uncle Jimmy Mac and God bless your family. And to the driver that night and his family, me and my comrades forgive you.”
As of this writing, there is no update on the comedian’s health after he was taken out of the MSG in a wheelchair. A spectator (@realJoshBrownie), who captured the video of Tracy Morgan also wrote that he seemingly had a nosebleed.
