Jenny Shimizu, Madonna’s ex-partner, reflected on her relationship with the pop icon during the 1990s, describing the experience where she felt like she couldn't refuse the singer's requests.
However, it is claimed that during her relationship with Madonna, Shimizu was also romantically involved with Angelina Jolie.
In an interview with Girlfriends magazine in 1997, Jolie revealed that she wanted to marry Shimizu. The Maleficent actress met her husband Jonny Lee Miller during the shoot of Hackers. While talking about Shimizu, she said:
“When I was doing Foxfire we started talking, and months later we got married. I probably would have married Jenny Shimizu if I hadn't married my husband. I fell in love with her the first second I saw her.”
She continued:
“Actually, I saw when she was being cast in Foxfire, and I thought she had just read for my part. I thought I was going to lose the job. I said to myself, "Oh, my God, that's Legs." She's great. We had a lot of fun.”
As per reports from popular media hubs, while she was in a relationship with Madonna, Shimizu dated Angelina Jolie. They were allegedly in a relationship from 1996 to 2000. Miller was supportive of Jolie while she navigated her feelings and recognized her attraction to women.
Jenny Shimizu is now married to brand adviser Michelle Harper. She shared her memories of dating Madonna in Hulu's documentary series In Vogue: The 90s. She admitted that refusing Madonna in the 90s was not an option, describing the experience as feeling like a "high-class hooker."
Angelina Jolie named Jenny Shimizu as a great actor
In the Girlfriends magazine interview, when she was asked about her favourite actor, Angelina Jolie praised Jenny and the other actresses from Foxfire, noting their impressive growth in their acting careers. She also highlighted Gary Sinise's outstanding performance in Wallace, commenting on his intense approach to the script.
She also mentioned that Miller took her relationship with Jenny Shimizu seriously and didn’t view it as just a casual or superficial attraction. Angelina Jolie separated from Miller in 2000. Reportedly, the actress was invited to Shimizu and Harper’s wedding, but she did not attend.
Reflecting on her relationship with the Madonna in the Hulu documentary, Shimizu noted that their connection lacked emotional attachment and was purely physical. In her memoir, she allegedly emphasized that their interactions focused on achieving se*ual ecstasy rather than forming an emotional bond.
Jenny Shimizu also expressed that the experience of being at the singer's disposal was thrilling, as she enjoyed being summoned to her room whenever the singer desired intimacy.
Jenny Shimizu was born in San Jose, California, and grew up in Santa Maria, where she attended California State University, Northridge. She established herself as a prominent figure in the fashion industry, gaining fame as a model in the 1990s.
She became one of the faces of Calvin Klein’s innovative unisex fragrance, CK One, and subsequently modeled for renowned brands such as Versace, Prada, Jean Paul Gaultier, Yohji Yamamoto, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, Thierry Mugler, and The Gap.
