Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been accused of s*xually assaulting a 13-year-old in 2000 along with Sean John Combs, popularly known as P. Diddy. The incident happened at an afterparty of the Video Music Awards.
The lawsuit was filed on Sunday by an Alabama woman identified anonymously as Jane Doe under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
She initially filed the lawsuit against Combs in October. The accuser alleged that she was invited to the party by a limousine driver who claimed to be working for Combs.
She was reportedly asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before being assaulted by the men. The woman also pointed out that there was another celebrity who “stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting her," as per a report by NBC News.
In his response to NBC News, Jay-Z stated the allegations were “idiotic” and added that U.S. attorney Tony Buzbee was engaged in unprofessional behavior.
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
While legal representatives for Combs called these suits,
"shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs."
